Well, definitely, if I could travel to visit other country, it would be Germany. These days people really like to travel and stuff, but i'm not really interested at all. In fact, I would choose Germany exclusively to study there. Because they have a rich tradition of sociological thought, which is intertwined with their culture. They have so many important figures in a lot of fields, like arts, science, philosophy, politics, modern history, etc. There's a great deal of things that we can learn from german culture. But I would like to study with social theorist and social philosophers in particular. And that's it. Turism and other stuff don't really excite me, as i said. Of course, in one way or another I would end visiting some important places here and there, but it is not at all my main focus. Some of the teachers I would like to listen impart in Berlin, Jena and specially, Frankfurt. I'm thinking in Axel Honneth, Rahel Jaeggi and Hartmut Rosa. They are all contemporary thinkers with whom I feel very close

WOW, it is true that the knowledge and theoretical traditions in Germany are incredible, but it would be very difficult because of the language. It is really a great choice.

ResponderEliminarI share with you the interest in getting to know Germany, especially Frankfurt. Also read Honnet, and of course, Angela Davis, who also studied at the so-called "Frankfurt Critical School" and I think it would be interesting to know the university where both of them were trained.
Going to Germany for study and no tourism is a really wise choice, if it really suits your goals, then go for it, i bet you will enjoy your experience there.

I don´t know if I like too much the germany culture. I think they can be a little too much structured in their lifes.
