Never look away

Well, i feel almost impossible to pick some favourite something, in movies especially, because there are so many good movies, that relate very different experiences and stories. Anyway, if I had to pick one, and certainly I have to, It would be "Never look away", a german film directed by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck (also known for directing "The live of others", a very recognized german film), which I totally recommend it, in fact, i recommend both. I pick this one because is one of the last movies I saw that really really captivated me, it's about a german painter who lives and experiences the art in all versions of second world war Germany, he learns about art with his aunt, who is euthanized by the nazis because she was diagnosed with schizophrenia. The protagonist sees how art is conceived by the nazi Germany, later in the sovietic Germany, and finally, in the occidental Germany, where he can find his genuine artistic expression, following the teachings of his aunt. I like this movie because tell us about the different ways in which the different versions of Germany conceive art and culture, and how the protagonist has to find himself against this different contexts, trying to express through his paintings. I think that my favourite kind of movies are the kind that tell us something about humanity, art, technology, or something about me, about anyone, that touches universal human experiences. And both of this films from von Donnersmack make this with maestry.
